Salam,
Selamat thn baru semua!! pejam celik pejam celik dah nak dekat sethn aku duk di rantau orang.. kejap jer berlalu.. so harap2 cepat ler aku dan ziad dapat hbskan phd, so boleh ler balik malaysia.. hehehe i miss u all in malaysia.. Ni aku masukkan gmbr yg tertinggal masa family syed datang ke sini dulu.. Gmbr ni masa kami di wellington.. so dgn bantuan kak nik so dapat ler kami melawat beberapa tempat dalam masa setengah hari sbb nak kejar balik ke palmerston north. ada jugak aku amik gmbr rumah yg kami stay dulu termasuk ler toilet dia.. macam biasa..

Hari Raya pada tahun nie adalah hari raya pertama di sambut bersama family di luar negara. Perasaan menyambut hari raya di tempat orang nie sememmangnya amat membosankan oleh kerana keluarga berada jauh di mata. Walaubagaimanapun, perjuangan perlu diteruskan dan hasil persepakatan 7 buah keluarga, jadi kami mengadakan majlis di rumah zabidi (PhD student UM - Education) di 127 Savage Cresent. Amat meriah sekali dan diharapka pada tahun hadapan akan meriah dengan pertambahan keluarga postgrad di bumi palmy.

PhD Research Background (Papa)
Use of ultrasound in fermentation and biocatalysis is relatively new and offers an attractive alternative to classical fermentation processes. Few reports deal specifically with the application of ultrasound to improve bioprocesses. This research is focused on productivity enhancing effects of ultrasound on live biological systems and cell-free enzymes and design considerations for sonobioreactors that are required for ultrasound-enhanced biocatalysis. This work expects to identify optimum combinations of sonication cycle time, frequency and intensity, to improve bioreaction kinetics. The research aims to understand the mechanisms that might be responsible for the beneficial effects of ultrasound under different bioreaction scenarios. On completion, this work will provide methods for implementing sonication for enhancing the productivity and economics of biotechnology production processes. Methods for rational design of sonobioreactors will become available and a better mechanistic understanding will be gained of the effects of low-intensity ultrasound on biological systems.
PhD Research Background (Mama)
Bioethanol is a potentially sustainable bio-fuel that is relatively expensive to produce because the producing micro-organisms cannot withstand a high concentration of ethanol. Thus ethanol has to be recovered from dilute fermentation broths and this is expensive. Feed-back inhibition of ethanol production can be reduced by removing ethanol from the fermentation broth as it is being produced. This research is focused on in situ removal of ethanol by liquid-liquid extraction (i.e. extractive fermentation) as means of enhancing ethanol productivity. High- and low-gravity fermentations will be conducted in batch and continuous modes of operation. The main novelty of the research will be in its focus on high-gravity (high sugar) fermentations, selection of solvents that have not been considered before, use of glucose as the fermentable sugar, modelling, and operational methodologies of the fermentation systems. On completion, this work will provide methods for enhancing the productivity of the fermentation through in situ recovery of ethanol.

Alhamdullilah....syukur to Allah kerana dapat menyempurnakan ibadat korban pada tahun ini di bumi palmy NZ. Berkat musyawarah bersama kwn2 postgrad program korban bermula jam 7.30 am dimana semua berkumpul di rumah 6B college st, pekena nasi lemak mama pastu lebih kurang 8.15 am bergerak ke foxton untuk majlis penyembelihan lembu. Dgn harga lembu $700 kami memulakan ibadat korban pada pukul 9.30 am. Cuma terkejut sedikit dimana cara penyembelihan di sini adalah dengan menggunakan tembakan terlebih dahulu sebelum disembelih. Proses skinning selesai pada pkl 11.00 am (terlalu cepat, our expectation sepatutnya pkl 3.00 pm) kerana dibantu oleh pakar2 sembelih dr Fiji dan syukur sekali lagi kepada Maha Esa kerana semua proses berjalan dgn amat mudah sekali. Inilah anugerah Allah. Proses memotong daging untuk dimakan dan diagihkan ke masjid selesai jam 5 pm dan majlis gotong royong memasak selesai jam 6 pm. Program Takbir, Sembahyang hajat, Bacaan yassin dan tahlil bermula jam 9 mlm (waktu maghrib- siang panjang di musim summer) dan seterusnya jamuan dan berakhir pada pkl 12 mlm....
Niat Korban pada tahun ini " Inilah korban bagi Anakku Aqilah Batrisyia Binti Ahmad Ziad pada tahun ini kerana Allah Taala" semoga Allah memberikan kemudahan dan nikmat rezeki yang melimpah-ruah kepada anak sulungku ini.

Aku sebenarnya tak de idae nak upload gmbr ape.. sbb skrg nie pun tgh busy dgn experiment yg asyik kene repeat smpi aku dah fed up dah tu tak de nak gi mane2.. Alang2 adik ipar aku tooks a few photos masa batrisyia kat kindy..so aku masukkan ler gmbr masa dia tgh main. tapi yang aku geram dgn batrsiyia ni.. smpi la ni adik ipar aku kene stay with her.. klu tak dia akan menangis sakan.. aku pun dah tak tau macamane nak pujuk dia lagi.. tensionnnnnnnnnnnnn
